No To Poverty

In response to one of my colleagues article of Not in Texas. We’re Perfect! The issue of living in Texas with children struggling to acquire a full course meal is rare. Texas has not only ignored the issue but has placed it on the back burner. So I would have to agree with my colleague upon this amazing article. Providing Texas with food banks and programs, sum people in Texas take pride into the equation and have the children suffer. I can recall growing up as a child my mother took us to a shelter for food and warmth. As time progressed we had a roof over our heads and hitting the food banks during the holidays. My mother raised us in a single parent home with two older brothers. She had no problem asking for help. I thank all the families that take the programs under consideration to provide for their children in time of need. However, Texas needs to address this concern with full force. My colleague stated that this issue of poverty is second in the nation and it certainly is nothing to be proud of. We need to open the eyes of the rich and give to the poor. Starting with Rick Perry, the one and only that can take this matter with full force in restructuring the government in Texas.

Voting for Name or Work History...

It’s time to make a vote of a yay or nay.
Elsa Alcala is one of the nine highest criminal judges running for re-election in this upcoming year. Of course her name may not be very well known among Texans but she is one of the voices that govern our very fate of life or death. Her history of employment is outstanding, from a Kingsville native that attended Texas A&I before switching its name to Texas A&M University of Law. Serving in Court of Appeals in Houston (twice), also being a state district judge appointed by Gov. George W. Bush. Her history is worth fighting for in this upcoming election. Her name may not be very well known within Texas but it is certainly better than being appointed and ridiculed because of flaws like Stephen Mansfield. Mansfield was the Republican serving on the Courts of Criminal Appeals that was known for leaving his dog in his car unattended while at work. He was also known for scalping tickets on the school grounds of the Texas A&M football game that were complimentary tickets. Mansfield may have the name to pass for re-election which in turn failed because of his misconduct of his position. However Alcala is well known for living up to the standards of the common people. I would however cast my vote for her just based off her history and not her name. Voters need to be aware of the history a person carries alongside them throughout the years as it may lead up to failure and end up voting for someone that is incapable of meeting the people’s needs. As the upcoming election let Alcala stay in office as she has done an outstanding job meeting our needs as a state. Vote Yay!!!

I Simply Agree..... You Have My Vote!

Upon viewing Kirby’s blog on The Future of Education, my colleague has a valid persuasive point to further the educational needs of our youth to proceed into the future with fist clinched and arms swinging. To continue to fight for our future education is important for the survival of a rationalized ethnic culture. In addressing the money figures and knowing that the Proposition 6 was passed, I’d like to see the figures upon that proposal raise in time. Our educational needs are important and I like to see someone kick Gov. Perry out of office and fix the educational budget instead of cutting school funding. Replace the educational opportunities that were passed on to my generation so the next can enjoy the same and if not better quality of education. Kirby, I’m right along with you on the issue of preparing our young for the future. When the time comes I’d like to see that I don’t have to fight for what the people believe is right. We will have the young and educated to do that for us with the moral support of our generation. We struggle through economic times today but do not lead this drought of employment into the future. People are stressed as it is with the funding. Why not give it back to the common people? As propositions are passed and we see the future progressing and see our education marketed as extra electives are up for grabs. Then and only then will we see progress. We are just one foot in the door.

Public School Systems Anti-Policy

Growing up in south Texas and graduating from Alice High School in 2005’. Not even a decade later the school would be the topic of discussion and under review for gay bullying. State and local government needs to address the issue within the public education system as a form of anti-gay and straight alliance. The issue at hand was a gay male student was caught on surveillance camera kissing another male. The male student was suspended from campus and kicked off the cheerleading squad. The Alice High School public school system states that there should be no interaction between relationships on campus. In attended that school back in 2005. Some colleagues can attest that intermingling was at hand and most of all viewed by the faculty. State and local government need to address this issue and find equality among the gay and straight community. What may be ok for the straight kids isn’t ok for the gay kids to follow. It’s unethical and racist. As a state and within local communities the government should provide insight on the issue within gay bullying. Having the issue caught on camera must suggest that faculty is at fault leading to a possible law suit. So why does a gay student get suspended and not a straight? Causes issues within the community that has come to terms with the struggled to come out and seek acceptance. Gay bullying within schools in the past has had dramatic outcomes from school shootings to suicide. If the government can educate the students with modern society issues maybe the schools will release some tension among students and can have a safer place to study. In providing educational benefits to students to better understand gay students and the issues faced among a straight society students can define equality at the front door leading into our community.  Gay bashing and racial slurs are inappropriate for students and even faculty to ignore. It has become an era where gay individuals are leading our country from school teachers to politicians and even in the military. So why not start at the fore front of our public educational system. Government officials need to address the issue and incorporate a class on the issue. Even if gay issues were to be discussed as a subject during Sex Ed. But, as we know it that is another topic of discussion due to budget cuts and school funding. There is a saying taught in elementary schools that some students tend to forget. “Treat others as you would like to be treated,” so stop the BULLYING. Support the movement on anti-gay and straight alliance. Prove to the state and local government that this is an issue that needs to be addressed within our schools. Better the community and our schools.

Resized Politician

As stated in the Texas Monthly Blog posted by Paul Burka, simply states,” Rick Perry’s political strategy is undermining the race and his campaign to be the position beneath the presidency”.  His blog is focused toward the audience on both sides to provide the passive position of Rick Perry as a contender for the presidency. Also to persuade voters the flaws that Perry simply ignores with his mumbles to persuade voters not to elect a polotician that can not speak thoroughly to his followers.  Paul provides good insight on the politician Rick Perry, but it is obvious as we watch Perry mumble through some political questions as we go about observing the race. This is a down fall towards Rick’s campaign with the negative issues brought to surface that some voters may have placed behind them. It seems to re-question their motives on the political choice for presidency.  Some may agree that Rick Perry has lacked participation in some issues and provides little interest in some political aspects but that does not excuse his political strategy in this race against Mitt Romney. Paul states that Rick Perry has,” alienated the old folks with his position on social security and the tea party with his position on immigration”. Paul simply points out figures that Perry has no real answer to fulfill the wishes of his followers, but it still does not mean that this politician doesn’t have something up his sleeve.  Perry’s campaign is still strong even though he may be in third in Florida, but his campaign strategy still has enough money to fund Iowa. By Perry suppressing the issues on the aspects of immigration and the issue on social security could just be his come back for a focal point to win the election, seems to be agreeable for what the voters want to hear in the end of this campaign election.

The Master Plan

With the economy at stake so is our educational system and with suppression from the superintendent, Maria Carstarphen who plans to revise and restructure the financial struggle of the educational system in our district. In the Austin American Statesman editorial “School district secrecy erodes public trust,” simply focuses on the taxpayer’s attention as it grabs our attention when a revised plan implemented by the superintendent herself fails to put information viewable to the public. The article refers to the publication of her information is simply for the good of the people. Rather than waiting for it to be reviewed which the proposal has a timeline. The editor also argues that the board reviews every proposal up to two times before a final vote. The final vote may be in December but the matter is at hand with the concern of the bloggers and where their money is going. The educational system abandoned a proposal funding of yet another school without improvising the most common of the issues, our schools at hand. The proposal would cost an average $900,000 for the facilities plan development to include a costly consultant. Bloggers are focused on the education of their children as politics simply deplete some of the educational courses. Not only is that a concern but now a bigger concern of where will our children go to school due to this new behind the scene plan constructed by the censorship of the superintendent. The people will not have a vote in the decision is simply obscured, because it is the taxpayer’s money that is funding the educational values for our children. This becomes a concern as people want to know where their money is being spent. It’s for the good of the children and not for the better of the administration staff. Greed has come forth within our educational system that needs to focus on the benefits of our youth rather than taking it away because of funding. In order to fix the issues at hand we need to focus on the problems within the system so it can be properly constructed. By the time the superintendent reveals the proposed plan may be late on fixing a proposal that better suits the taxpayers.

Immigrants called " Guest Workers"

As immigration becomes a renouncing concern among conservative pundit Ann Coulter as she criticizes Governor of Texas, Rick Perry as promoting illegal immigration just as President George Bush had in the past. In the issue of protecting the borders from immigration, the discussion is related towards Gov. Rick Perry as contributing towards immigrants for cheap labor. Government grant in 2001 titled In-State College Tuition is giving illegal aliens the opportunity to attend college in the state of Texas. Ask Perry on the issue of immigration and the topic of discussion will change to another, avoiding the question.  Perry actions seem to be relaxed on immigration comes to the dinner table of Texans. He is also known for siding with Mexico in the past to advocate for a system to contribute to guest worker from Mexico. Later, he ends relation to the topic of guest workers, due to required questions of legal citizenship within the Arizona state. $10 million was given to secure the border with newly updated radio systems. A year later with a multi- million for investment to a virtual wall secured with cameras that provided only a few detainees. With immigration at hand Perry becomes frustrated with the assistance Obama when he denied Perry’s request of 1,000 National Guard troops to guard the border, he was only provided with the minimum of 250. If immigration is not address, where will model class American citizens in Texas stand?  As poverty in Texans is at stake we should focus the working economics of Texas in state rather than being compassionate to the immigrants contracted as guest workers.
